Paintball Markers

Paintball markers, aka paintball guns, are sophisticated devices that are constantly being updated to meet the demands of the ever-expanding paintball nation.

These paintball markers are the main piece of equipment needed to play paintball. Manufacturers of these markers use gas such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide or compressed air to propel paintballs from the markers. Many in the paintball community use the term “marker” instead of “gun” in order to avoid the perception that the markers are weapons and used for anything other than sport. The term started with the early days of paintball, which actually included forestry personnel and ranchers using similar devices to mark trees and wandering cattle.

Paintball markers are sophisticated devices that are constantly being improved. These markers can shoot paintballs at close to 300 feet per second. This is roughly measured to be 201 mph. There are some paintball markers that can shoot upwards of this amount, but they are usually not able to be used for commercial paintball. Most paintballs break upon impact with a person or thing. There is rarely any significant damage done aside from a bruise or two.

Because paintball markers are able to shoot these balls so quickly, players need to wear masks to protect their eyes, mouth and ears. A person who does not have a mask should never play paintball.

Most paintball markers are made up of four main parts – the body, the hopper, the air tank and the barrel. There is a lot of information available about each of these individual parts. These parts are being updated constantly.
