Paintball Parts
Included below is a mini-glossary of paintball parts that
might be discussed from time to time. Understanding a little more about
these terms can make you a more effective player.
• 12g – 12 gram CO2 "powerlets" are items used
for many years in pellet rifles. They were used to power the early paintball
guns.
• Anti-siphon – This is a special bulk CO2 tank that was
designed to prevent the gun from sucking liquid.
• Barrel Plug – This is one of the most important paintball
parts for ensuring safety. It is a plug that goes in the barrel end
of the muzzle. It prevents shots from accidentally leaving the gun.
• Chronograph – These paintball parts are devices used
to measure the speed of a paintball coming out of a barrel. The maximum
recommended speed for play is 300 mph, but even this speed pushes the
limits.
• Harnesses – These paintball parts carry loaders of paint
so that a player may reload their feeder/hopper on the field during
play.
• Remote – These are the hoses and fittings which allow
the bulk CO2 tank to be detached from the manufacture's intended location
on the gun, then located elsewhere, like on the hip.
Having a better understanding of the terms used to describe paintball
parts should be beneficial to paintballers as they look for new equipment
and gear to elevate their games.
